i have borrowed all the games ive played, except mw2. if i cant borrow, then id have to buy it. now, that game is 70 euros. i dont have that money. so, i know that theres people like me, who borrow quite a few games, just to try them out or whatever. therefore, cos the price is so high, people arent gonna wanna buy it => sales decrease.

Just to inform you guys, the back door CFW hack on the PS3 system, is NOT software patchable, its a hack into the coding of the systems hardware, and is only patchable in possibly the next release of the PS3 slims.
To cure this problem, Sony could offer a trade service. With their new line of new security systems, they could offer a trade in, and trade your older system, for the new security hardware in the system. if you don't trade in, your system, will essentially be bricked. Again, this isn't patchable by software, ir would have to be a hardware update, AKA a new system, or something to be installed into it.

Well the whole point of serial key implementation is so only one copy can be registered. That would render borrowing or reselling useless and completely wipe out that market.
If that means your giving it away, I'll be glad to take it.

the way to jailbreak, is to change the firmware settings, via a usb. basically, you get the file from geohotz site, you put it on ur usb, put into ur ps3, turn it on, go to system update, update from storage device, do what it says, boom. takes less than 2 minutes. and boom, ur ps3 is jailbroken. (thats the process of how to jailbreak, btw)
whatever the method is, it involves freezing, bricking, removing ability to play online.

Jailbreaking is outdated now. CFW is what's going on. Geohot has nothing to do with jailbreaking; he solely works on CFW. No CFW out now removes ability to play online or freezing. Bricking only occurs when people don't do their research and try something stupid.

im guessing you have 3.41?
You're confusing yourself. 3.55 has CFW. 3.41 has jailbreaking.

and its jailbroken. and running homebrew/ its basically modded 3.55
Steps:
1)PLUG IN COMPUTER USB (CLEARLY U HAVE DONE THAT)
2) cut and paste onto desktop "CTP by markoshay"
3) nOw, u have 2 files on your USB, one is FTPserver_12_355.pkg and the other is the ps3 folder.
4) not eject usb from computer
5) remove power cable from ps3
6) insert usb flash drinve into ps3 usb hub while power cable is removed (POWER CABLE SHOULD BE REMOVED *SOS*)
7) insert power cable
8) switch on ps3 system from button on console, not controller
9) go to Settings tab on ps3's XMB menu
10) go to system update
11) choose "Update from storage device"
12) it should automaticaly find the "3.55-jb.pup" file, choose that
13) wait for it to load the jailbreak
14) it should restart, or smth like that,
15) go to the game tab once it is updated
16) choose "install package files"
17) instal FTP server
18) now you have a jailbroken ps3 with the FTP server on
NOTE:
FTP server = blackb0x
HOW TO CREATE A CHALLENGE LOBBY FOR MW2:
1) go to your FTP server.pkg (installed one) in the game tab
2) open it up
3) look at your ip given to you by the app
4) go to your pc
5) open up the program "FileZilla"
6) on the top left corner of the program, under "File" and the toolbar, it says host.
7) in "Host" type in the IP address provided by "blackb0x" on the ps3
8) click on quickconnect
*!PAY ATTENTION HERE!*
9)on the right hand side, you will see smth changed, those are your PS3 files.
10) navigate to dev(elopment)_hd0
11) navigate to game
12) then find the BLES you are using, found on the side of cover of your game box(cover or w/e) ~MOST PROB ITS BLES_0683~
13) then go to user directory
14) over ride the patch from the patches given to you

Btw fill if it was a hardware hack then it would technically be modding, from what I know they entered through a backdoor which is hard to find and poorly secured through a weak encryption (correct me if I'm wrong) PCs have this function and PS3s were modeled after them, a massive security update can change this encryption (if possible) and resecure it

@Psy: That particular JB you have is a variation of KaKaRoTo's and WuTangRZA's CFWs. It's kinda both JB and CFW. xD
