Opportunities don***8217;t come along like this very often. Those of you that know me know I play the Double Up! contest*habitually, but Draftkings has made an offer I can***8217;t refuse and you shouldn***8217;t either. Draftkings is presenting a one time contest where the winner is set to earn $125,000. Yup, you read that right. Just take an opportunity to let that soak in for a second.
For most of us that amounts to two full years of salary where we work. You can get that for one***8217;s day***8217;s work. This is the last such contest that Draftkings is offering for the baseball season, so get in now while the getting is good. Draftkings will pay out to the top 600 place holders for this one in a lifetime opportunity.
If you are new to Draftkings, I can***8217;t think of a better reason to get going. They*will give you a deposit bonus you can access*here. Once you***8217;ve signed up you just follow the links to the sport you want to play (baseball is the only option now) and the contests you want to play. Of course, we will give you the direct hook up here. If you are just joining us for the Draftkings revolution the rules of the game are simple enough. You pick one player per position and two pitchers. You have 50,000 to spend and you get points based on their performance during that day***8217;s game. It***8217;s as easy as that.
I will give you a head start by sharing my lineup with you. I will always share two lineups with you each time I write up these contests. My normal days are Wednesday and Thursday, but the all-star break gave me a brief respite. We have other talented and knowledgable writers that contribute on other days of the week, so you can always come back here to get advice on who to play. My second lineup is simply an alternative choice you can play at each position. The first lineup will meet the 50,000 cap. The second one won***8217;t necessarily do that. Here***8217;s to 600 of us getting some money tonight.
My Lineup
PlayerOpposing SPSalaryNotes
CBrian McCannJohn Danks4,200He managed to make it to the all-star game even with missing the first month.
1BBrandon BeltIan Kennedy3,700The magic from 2011 is a distant memory for Kennedy.
2BMarco ScutaroIan Kennedy3,700A cheaper option and Kennedy is a guy I want to exploit.
3BJose IglesiasAndy Pettitte3,500Iglesias is cheap and Pettitte has been very hittable this season.
SSAndrelton SimmonsJohn Danks4,100He isn’t terrific, but he’s solid and Danks is not.
OFJacoby EllsburyAndy Pettitte5,000He has been one of the best outfielders in baseball since a lukewarm April.
OFShane VictorinoAndy Pettitte4,700Victorino has missed some time, but he’s been productive when healthy.
OFMichael BrantleyMike Pelfrey4,600He is one of the most underrated power/speed threats in the game.
PFrancisco LirianoCincinnati Reds9,100Imagine calling Liriano the ace of the Pirates staff at the beginning of the season.
PMike LeakePittsburgh Pirates7,200This is the ultimate hedging of the bet as one of these two is destined to win.
A Reasonable Alternative
PlayerOpposing SPSalaryNotes
CCarlos SantanaMike Pelfrey4,400Quietly remains as one of the top five catchers in baseball; offensively at least.
1BMike NapoliAndy Pettitte4,400He is also eligible at catcher if you don’t like the options there.
2BJason KipnisMike Pelfrey4,900He continues to put up tantalizing power and speed numbers.
3BPablo SandovalIan Kennedy4,300He hasn’t done what people hoped, but some day he will bust out.
SSAsdrubal CabreraMike Pelfrey4,600He flies under the radar since he missed some considerable time.
OFMichael BournMike Pelfrey4,500He missed a lot of time, so he will be overlooked.
OFHunter PenceIan Kennedy4,300He has some good numbers and he can smell free agency.
OFJustin UptonJohn Danks5,900Way too pricey for my blood, but it is a favorable pitching matchup.
PAnibal SanchezKansas City Royals9,600This is my third favorite matchup as the Royals are bad offensively.
PWei Yen ChenTexas Rangers8,000I don’t like the matchup, but he has been very productive this season.
