Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag marks the first time a series installment will run in true native 1080p. Now that the PlayStation 4 has launched in the U.S., North American players need only install a day-one patch to upgrade from the original 900p.
UbiSoft says that most won't be able to tell the difference after the update, as 900p is very close to 1080p. However, the updated version will seem smoother, albeit*slightly less crisp.
A similar situation happened with the release of retail copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts, which required a day-one patch on PS4, and will be upscaled from 720p on the Xbox One when the console launches next week.
