By Evan CampbellUbisoft announced today that it has shipped over 11 million copies of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and more than 9 million units of Far Cry 3.
Assassin's Creed 4 was a great performer for Ubisoft over the last fiscal year, with the France-based company today*revealing its financials for fiscal 2014. Ubisoft also said that Assassin's Creed has become the fourth-biggest brand in gaming over the last nine years, only trailing the Call of Duty, Mario, and FIFA franchises.
Yves*Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, said during the earnings call today that along with the big numbers from Assassin's Creed IV, Far Cry 3 has now shipped over 9 million units. Ubisoft has pointed to the Far Cry brand as being a strong contender for becoming one of the best-selling IPs in gaming in the upcoming years ahead. Far Cry 4 was announced as presumably a first step in this process, which is coming out later this year.
And finally, Ubisoft noted the solid performance of South Park: The Stick of Truth, specifically highlighting the RPG's "stronger than expected" digital sales. However, no figures were given for the Obsidian Entertainment-developed game.
In regard to the future, Ubisoft is planning on Watch Dogs becoming a big seller, with a sales target of over 6 million units.
