just wanted to get this section up and running since some people want to be immature spammers and post bullshit threads.
Who is the greatest closer of all time?
Trevor Hoffman?

-OR-
Mariano Rivera?
http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/individual_stats_player.jsp?c_id=mlb&playerID=121250
My pick is Rivera.
their numbers are about even, but Rivera pitches in a much bigger stage. Rivera is also nearly perfect in the postseason and in the allstar game while Hoffman (in the few times he's seen the playoffs) does just decent.
Here are their postseason and All-Star game stats

Rivera has 34 postseason saves with an incredible 0.77 saves and 88 baserunners in 117 innings.
Also, Rivera has 4 rings.
