Xbox gamers in Australia now have access to a revamped Xbox Game Pass Quests system, part of a reimagined framework to earn Microsoft Rewards points. However, making the most of this new setup requires some effort and consistency, which may not appeal to everyone.

Microsoft Rewards lets users earn points through activities like playing Xbox games and searching on Bing. These points can be redeemed for Xbox Gift Cards, in-game currency for games like League of Legends and Roblox, Game Pass subscriptions, charity donations, or even contest entries, like the current $1,000,000 Sweepstakes.

On November 5, Australian gamers discovered their Xbox Game Pass Quests had been overhauled. Players can now earn points simply by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes each day with the new "Daily Play" quest. Monthly and weekly goals encourage playing multiple games with bonus points awarded based on the variety of titles played and streaks maintained.

Here’s a breakdown of the new Xbox Game Pass Quests:

  • Daily Play: Play any Game Pass game for at least 15 minutes.
  • Monthly 4-Pack: Earn points by playing four different Game Pass games for at least 15 minutes each month.
  • Monthly 8-Pack: Earn more points by playing eight unique Game Pass games for at least 15 minutes each month.
  • Weekly Streaks: Play at least five days per week to earn weekly points and unlock next week’s multiplier. Maintaining a streak for two, three, and four weeks unlocks 2x, 3x, and 4x multipliers, respectively.
This new setup removes the need to earn achievements to complete Quests, allowing players to earn points at a more relaxed pace. Players who maintain a weekly quadruple-point bonus could potentially earn around 2,000 points each month. However, gamers unable to play five times weekly may find it challenging to hit these higher point totals, and some have voiced concerns that this may further limit attainable points for casual players.

While this new system is currently limited to Australia, it may soon expand to other regions if successful. However, the frequent changes to Xbox Game Pass Quests and the fluctuating value of Rewards points have led some users to question the program’s long-term direction.
