Namco Bandai has a swag of changes lined up for Tekken Revolution, including more difficulty options; a free training mode; skill resets; and more premium optional extras.
Two new characters will be added – Hwoarang and Dragunov – and once updated, players will be able to choose normal, hard or very hard difficulty for arcade mode. The more difficult modes give 1/5x and 2x the rewards of normal respectively, as well as a chance to fight a rare enemy, and enhanced versions of normal enemies.
The level cap will be raised from 50 to 60, and the top rank will bump from pugilist to saviour.
One of the keenest features of the update is a free practice mode, so you can train without coins. A walled or non-walled virtual arena is available, with an optional command list and the traditional Mokujin opponent.
The update will also allow you to purchase new costumes and premium effects from the PlayStation Store; the latter are flashier visuals for critical arts. Hwoarang and Dragunov don’t have any premium effects lined up, but they’re promised for a future update. You can see premium effects in action in the gameplay footage below.
Another new premium option is a chance to reassign your enhancement points. Your first go is free, but after that you’ll need to purchase a “reset drink”.
On that topic, the matchmaker will allow you to search for games with enhancements disabled.
On top of all this, there will be fixes and rebalancing, and a special event with prizes and increased XP gain. Click through to an enthusiastic update to the free-to-play fighter’s official site for full patch notes and details.
The patch is coming to the European PlayStation Network on July 24, and the North American equivalent by the end of the month – presumably with or around the PSN update of July 30.
Thanks, Joystiq.
