Four recently-released StreetPass games have proved quite lucrative for Nintendo.

Speaking with Tokyo Keizai Online, as translated by Siliconera, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said the four games have generated around ¥400 million in sales in one month – about $4 million.
The article noted that Nintendo hadn’t widely advertised the new games; they were added quietly via firmware update. Nevertheless, 200,000 consumers had bought in within a week.
The new StreetPass games are accessible via a new shop in the Mii Plaza. Unlike the StreetPass titles which come built-in, the new ones cost €5 or regional equivalent each, but can be purchased in a bundle for a 25% discount.
StreetPass is one of the 3DS’s unique features, although the Vita’s Near makes an attempt at matching it. The 3DS is going gangbusters for Nintendo, which it desperately needs while the Wii U continues to flounder, and it’s taking steps to make Streetpass more useful to western gamers.
