Their protesting the increasing gap of the extremely wealthy people, and the poor. Their protesting that America has bailed out the people who have gotten us into that mess. People have seen little wage increases, meanwhile the large corporate heads have almost doubled their salary in the same time period. Soon, with this rate the middle class will almost all but disappear leaving a huge gap between the lower, upper, and the one percent that is causing this. Their also wanting less corporate involvement in the US Democratic system, as they feel their Government is too easily influenced by Corporations. Educate yourselves on these issues, this isn't going away any time soon.

Psy, Im only friends with NY cops in my area, 412 miles from Wall Street. The best we can all do is remember that corrupt cops are out there, they must be stopped. If not by good cops, by the people.

I just don't see how yelling, standing, sleeping, and marching around NYC is going to get results...*looks* more to me like people are just getting in the way with a total lack of care for how the US is set up to change/get laws in place.

Protest was the fundamental pillar that led to the revolution that led to the beginning of your nation Morb. The United States when they were in their original colonies, protested against the high taxes that the British imposed on them. They protested, and a revolution followed. More people are beginning to pay attention to the movement down in Wall Street, I've heard of Movements beginning across the U.S. states with the same intentions as the Wall Street movement. Rallies have even been held here in Canada for support of our Neighbours to the south who are protesting.

There are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many differences between the protesting that led to the revolution and the protesting that is going on right now.

The largest corporation that has influence on the democratic gov't is the media, it's everywhere. Hell, if you aren't right on Wall Street, you are using media to keep up to date with the movement. They have you right in their hands, watch the movie, "Truman Show." Explains it perfectly, media has your reality right in its control.

I've informed myself through third parties about the movement in Wall Street, Youtube is the best place to watch video's of the actual protest, not the images that FOX is showing.

Good point, but millions have yet to wake up, we have a lot of problems including the economic gap but media is also a growing threat. When Adbusters started OWS I was shocked to see that they used ad free magazines to get the news out, great leap against the media there.

I was trying to contrasts their similiarities, and show how the two of them somewhat parallel each other. They do have more similarities then just the protest itself. Both protests were against their government, and both demand change in their government.

My Uncle works closely with town gov't where he lives and he's on the conservative side of things about OWS. This is what he had to say,

What you seeing there is an uprising of Marxist .
Should Wall Street have been bailed out, HELL NO.
But the attack on free market capitalism will damage what is the greatest country to ever exist in the history of the world.
Nothing good will come from supporting or appeasing these ignorant youth. They know not what they are doing and are only useful idiots for something larger and waiting in the wings. Who is supporting them, Iran, China and many small tin horn dictators around the world. Oh yes, along with the Teamster, SEIU and other America hating socialist unions.
How did these idiots get to their way of thinking. Simple, government run schools dumbing down education and history. And the fact that we are dealing with the generation of "everyone gets a trophy and we are all winners mentality. ".
USEFUL IDIOTS. Look it up.

Just curious, what's so wrong about Socialism?

I live in Canada, and were a democratic and socialist society. We have programs that are socialist, but practice democracy, and private enterprise is encouraged. Welfare, Healthcare, Tuition assistance programs, and other social programs that are run by the Government all help the citizens.

I just think that America needs to step back, and take notice of their own country, and not foreign ones. You shouldn't disregard what the youth thinks. The youth is the future, and the future is in our hands, WE decide our future, not someone from another generation who thinks they know best. Not all youth are idiots, allot of us are well educated, and know what were fighting for. Our culture continuously though is looking at the now, and not the future.

That incident did even have an effect on the Chinese Government themselves. They realized that from that point on, they can't treat every citizen in their own country like they did years before. After that, private enterprise returned to China, and entrepreneurship began from there

'Tank Man' Had no choice as to what he was about to do, he had to either follow orders, or get shot. China has seen whats happening in the Arab Spring, they know what they have to do to keep their people oppressed in a modern world, and their taking the appropriate steps to assure that their people don't begin their own revolution. If they did start a revolution, that gained momentum, it would be a horrible tragedy.

The youth does get stuff done, when haven't they gotten stuff done?

Thank you Mobius! You're a really smart kid! Morb it doesn't matter what the last protest was about, this is a revolutionary protest. And the American people have the god forsaken right to do so! They are protesting the 1% vs the 99% But it is such a diverse protest for many reasons. People are just tired of the crap man. NYC isn't the only place. These protests are a global phenomenon. Americans are just one of the few to do it peacefully. Yet the corrupt police state is literally treating their own people like surfs or peasants. There are videos of cops literally beating these people and letting their horses run into crowds. I'm glad this marine stood up for the people. It is not the system that dictates the world. It is the people. Wether you realize it or not.

The system has a way of changing. The protesting in NYC is not that way.

If the protesters are really trying to weed out the corrupt politicians and corporate leaders, find a way to make whatever it is that they have done into unlawful conduct and then press chargers.
