He didnt "kill" hiphop.
He wasnt the first to sacrifice the quality of his music to make money (the definition of commercializing music).
Shit, the very FIRST rap radio hit, Rapper's Delight (do any of you even know the story?).
Some big producer wanted to tap into rap music, which was previously unknown to everyone outside of the immediate NYC area, to bring it to the public and MAKE MONEY. so she signed the Sugarhill Gang (from new jersey, outsider to the art at the time) to record the single.
COMMERCIALIZED!
its been going on ever since...
you cant blame almost 30 years of commercialized hiphop on ONE boy. its not right.
Shit, congratulate him. i dont know much about him, but i know like every other rapper he comes from a poor background. That's his hustle. He's making money to have a better life for him and his family, cant blame him for that. noone wants to STAY in the ghetto, we want to GET OUT!
now personally, i think he makes terrible music, BULLSHIT music. He's just a product, being sold to wannabe kids who've never known quality music. Being PIMPED by the big record label executives. The same can be said for many other artists on the radio.
But dont HATE him for it. keep the comments to yourself, because you do sound like haters.
im not losing sleep over it. In a few months, everyone will forget his name.
But then some other punk will replace him.
It'll never end.
Dont trust the radio to bring you good music, you gotta find it yourself.
