CD Projekt Red’s acclaimed RPG Cyberpunk 2077 will finally arrive on macOS in 2025, four years after its original launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The Mac version will mark a new platform for the game, which has garnered significant popularity and acclaim following multiple updates.

Initially released in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 was among the most anticipated games of the year, featuring actor Keanu Reeves in a central role and generating record-breaking pre-orders. Despite facing criticism for its launch-day bugs, the game has since been transformed by numerous patches and updates, leading to the highly praised Phantom Liberty expansion released on September 26, 2023.

CD Projekt Red has now confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available for macOS in early 2025, bundling both the base game and the Phantom Liberty DLC. This edition is designed exclusively for Apple silicon-powered Macs, with the Polish studio highlighting the use of Apple’s Metal technology to deliver optimized features such as path tracing, frame generation, and integrated Spatial Audio. Mac users who already own the game on Steam can rest easy—they won’t need to repurchase it to play on macOS.

With this upcoming release, Mac players will gain access to the complete Cyberpunk 2077 experience. Compatible with M1 and newer Apple silicon models, the port will introduce the game to a new audience. CD Projekt Red has yet to clarify whether Steam cross-compatibility extends to just the Ultimate Edition or the standalone base game as well.

Meanwhile, CD Projekt Red continues work on a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel alongside other projects in The Witcher universe. The highly anticipated Witcher title, codenamed Polaris, is expected to be the next major release from the studio as development progresses on multiple fronts.
