With the release of the latest beta build for Version 5.3, Genshin Impact players have finally been treated to a look at Citlali's splash art. The anticipation surrounding the Pyro Archon, Mavuika, was already significant when the Natlan cast was revealed, but it’s Citlali, a character introduced in Version 5.1, who has quickly become the talk of the community.

Citlali, a seasoned shaman from the Masters of the Night-Wind, is one of the oldest characters in the game. Her personality—a mix of drunken antics and a caring nature—has drawn comparisons to Faruzan, but with a more extreme twist. This combination has made her a fan favorite. Expected to become playable in the second half of Version 5.3, Citlali is shaping up to be a 5-Star Cryo Shield Support.

Shared by Seele Leaks, Citlali’s splash art showcases "Granny Itztli" resting on a large pillow in her signature dress. The character’s Cryo Shield Support role has drawn immediate comparisons to Layla, another Cryo character with a star theme, though Citlali stands out as only the third 5-Star Shield Support in the game, joining the ranks of Zhongli and Baizhu.

While Citlali’s rise in popularity is undeniable, many players have expressed concerns about the current state of the Cryo element in Genshin Impact, seeing Citlali as a potential fix. However, her ability kit may not meet the high expectations, as she mainly buffs Pyro and Hydro characters and offers interruption resistance via her shield. Her Elemental Skill creates a Cryo construct, applying Cryo twice, while her Elemental Burst applies it once. This limited Cryo application could make her less effective for Pyro hypercarry teams like those built around Arlecchino.

It’s important to note that ability kits are subject to change during the beta phase, so there’s still room for Citlali's role to evolve. While she undeniably retains a lot of charm, players are concerned about whether her gameplay value will truly live up to her 5-Star status. As a Shield Support, Citlali could appeal to both new and veteran players, but many wonder if she can offer the same level of utility as Zhongli and Baizhu.
