Numerous players are reporting the PS4 version o the game crashing with the CE-34878-0 error code.
PlayStation 4 owners are currently experiencing what PC gamers have been stuck with for over two weeks: Battlefield 4 crashes. According to several reports (and a ton of posts on the official forums), the PS4 version of Battlefield 4 is plagued by the same crashing issues as the PC version.
According to numerous reports, Battlefield 4 crashes on the PlayStation 4 just moments after a game starts, both in single and multiplayer.
As reported by PS4Daily, the game crashes to the home screen moments after start, with the error “CE-34878-0″. Yesterday, EA reported that Sony’s latest PS4 firmware actually resulted in some issues with games, but Sony has yet to comment on this.
It seems that EA is trying to pass blame to Sony, claiming this is a PS4 firmware issue. Under normal circumstances, we would have believed that, but taking into account how EA rushed Battlefield 4 to the market, we’re inclined to believe this is an issue with the game itself.
Battlefield 4 is facing similar crash issues on the PC (and to some extent, current gen systems). The recent PC patch doesn’t seem to have alleviated the crash problems, but did result in overall performance improvements. Check out the full patch notes here.
Hopefully EA and DICE have a quick fix in plans for PS4 users. Sony isn’t completely without fault, too, as we’ve heard reports of broken and bricked PS4 consoles and some firmware issues.
The PS4 launched yesterday in North America, and so far the launch has been successful with few hiccups. Did you get a PlayStation 4? Do you plan on getting BF4 on the console? Let us know your thoughts about next gen in the comments section.
