According to a report, Dead Space developers are working on a Battlefield spin-off.
A few weeks ago, EA surprised everyone by announcing that all development of future games at DICE has been put on hold until they fix Battlefield 4. While BF4 players loved the news, EA’s shareholders were a bit disappointed, resulting in a decline of EA stock.
But according to a new rumor, EA is developing another Battlefield game, but not at DICE. Instead, another EA studio — Visceral — is reportedly working on a Battlefield spin off.
The rumor comes from game industry analyst Michael Pachter, who believes that EA has spun off a Battlefield game that’s in development at Visceral, who are famous for the Dead Space franchise.
Pachter apparently spoke to EA management, who said that a Battlefield game would be released in FY15 (Fiscal Year 2015), and that it wouldn’t be developed by DICE.
It would be understandable if DICE didn’t work directly on the next Battlefield game, as it’s already been confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 3 will be developed by DICE.
For now, we’re glad that DICE is all in on making Battlefield 4 playable and bug free.
