Advice?

So i might join the USMC this summer. Still undecided. I have yet to start senior year (start this year), family earns about 70,000 yearly, and basically my financial situation is unstable. So I need tips from anyone who knows about this kind of stuff. What's your advice? I'd appreciate feedback. Thanks

USMC is really hard. There are some benefits but it means a couple of things.

You can't smoke weed. (I know you like to) They drug test almost every month.

You have to be fit.

You have to be told what to do. All the time.

Be away from home.

Potentially go to war.

I would suggest try and find a steady job and save up.

If you don't get into a university go to essex county college.

An education is important for jobs. 70k is above avg for families in nj.

Your last LEGAL option should be military if you are looking for money

I second this. A lot of people I know that joined the military and finish their first term or w/e they call it, come back home then can't find a job anywhere which sucks so they have to sign up for more years.

With school make sure you get your shit straight, don't fuck around bc college is not like high school where you can coast by and shit. School is fucking expensive, tuition and books run your pockets dry lol. But like you gotta look at it long term not short, like its better to be on a tight budget for 4 years then being on a looser budget but for the rest of your life ya know? There is some ppl that get decent ass jobs with just a high school degree but thats some. Idk how money works over there but 70k in illinois isn't bad at all, but idk what bills/expenses your fam has dude

Yo man. I third these statements. In my school is like college so I know a little about the experience. It depends on your major, but if you don't party you get a 4.0 easy. Science majors restrict your partying the most, but give you a 60k job, entry level position. When your 26, most of the pull with girls isn't from your looks of yourself, but the looks of your wallet.

Also any younglings out there, you can start scholarships after 10th grade.

70k is nothing in MA. Schools around here cost 30k for a day student, plus pressure, plus books.

The military is an honor, but the one's who succeed are the ones that enjoy it. You see Private Ryan? The Beach of Normandy scene was criticized for being too realistic. Just imagine being on that beach.

unless you go to a private school for millionaires, that's an exaggeration.

but if money is an issue then go to a comunity college. it's what I'm doing and it may be slow but its steady and cheap

if you go to a junior college or community college you can also transfer to a 4 year school after. Just make sure the classes you take will give you credit and count towards whatever you wana major in specially if you do the traditional 2 year then transfer thing if you take the right classes you go in as a junior, if not it ends up being a waste of time and money

Thanks for the advice guys. I got a firmer grip on the situation now. It's still a pretty hard choice, but ya made some valid points.
