The notorious Ghostface killer from the Scream franchise is set to invade Mortal Kombat 1, and players can now mark their calendars for the highly anticipated DLC character's debut. The second wave of guest characters was first unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con 2024 in July, with the first set released alongside the Khaos Reigns story expansion in late September. This expansion introduced classic fighters Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot, who played pivotal roles in the new storyline.

Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 2 will feature three special guest fighters, following the earlier inclusion of Oni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker. Leading the new wave is the dreaded Ghostface, joining the ranks of other infamous horror movie villains that have made their mark in Mortal Kombat. Ahead of the Khaos Reigns launch, fans got a glimpse of one of Ghostface’s Fatalities, which paid homage to the character's cinematic roots by showcasing a second Ghostface to unleash a brutal attack on their unfortunate victim.

Thanks to a brief teaser trailer, Mortal Kombat 1 fans now know when Ghostface will make his appearance as the game’s latest DLC fighter. The trailer opens with the iconic voice of Roger L. Jackson asking, “Do you like scary movies?” before revealing Ghostface creeping up on a defenseless Johnny Cage. The trailer also highlights various alternate masks players can equip on Ghostface, ultimately announcing two release dates: November 19 for those who purchased the Kombat Pack 2 DLC and November 26 for everyone else.

  • November 19, 2024 (Early Access)
  • November 26, 2024
Rumors about Ghostface's inclusion in Mortal Kombat 1 circulated long before Kombat Pack 2 was officially announced. The masked murderer from Woodsboro has been making waves in the gaming world, appearing in titles like Dead by Daylight in 2019, where he received a new backstory, and as a playable operator in Season 6 of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. More recently, he featured in Hunt: Showdown 1896, showcasing a chilling new look.

As the release date approaches, fans are eager to learn more about Ghostface's incarnation in Mortal Kombat 1, particularly the identity of the killer (or killers) behind the mask and the details of their moveset. The anticipation surrounding Ghostface’s Animality is also building, as his character has yet to be fully revealed. More information is expected to surface as the DLC character's release date draws near.
