WOOT! This is probably one of the biggest events, next to E3 and TGS, where Video Game companies show off their latest and greatest for whats coming up this year. From what I have read, both PS3 and Xbox 360 users are in for a REAL treat.
Xbox 360 News:
Xbox Arcade Room: Ever wondered if Microsoft would step up to challenge Sony's "Home" for the PS3. Well guess who decided to confront? Introducing Xbox Arcade Room! This ungiue feature on the Xbox 360 lets you control your avatar, with full functions and features, to play retro video games from the past. Yes! A blast from the past! Heres some new info from qj.net.
"The Game Room, developed by Krome Studios, is free to download. However, you'll need a three dollar pass (240 Microsoft Points) to play it on either your Xbox360 or Windows Live. If you want to play it on both, it's US$ 5 (400 MSP). But if you want to feel like the good old days dropping quarters - it's fifty cents a game (40 MSP), so that would be two quarters into the machine. Customization options will be available at launch, but prices for those have yet to be determined.
30 games will be accompanying the Game Room at launch, but over a thousand more will be added along the way from publishers such as Atari, Activision, and Konami. All games will be in 1080p, unlike the chipped glass with stickers you used to look through in the arcades of old."
Dude, epic arcade room will be epic. More news will be reported later.
Project Natal: Release date and all! Heard about the project? The device that uses a motion sensor to map out your body structure? Well here is some recent good news. Project Natal is dropping around 2010 "Holiday seasons"
"Scheduled to be available in holiday season 2010, “Project Natal” is only the most recent example of Microsoft’s work creating natural user interfaces"
Dude, this is will probably change the gaming industry big time!
PS3 News:
3D gaming: Dude title says it all. Think im joking? Hell no, Sony has decided to add 3D gaming to the market!
"During its Consumer Electronics Show press conference in Las Vegas, Sony has confirmed that an upcoming PlayStation 3 firmware update will allow all PS3s to play 3D games."
That would be soooo crazy! 3D gaming would indeed also change the the gaming industry and how games are played. I bet your wondering which games are gunna be in 3D. Well nothing really is confirmed yet about future games but their is some good news!
Super Stardust HD will be the first example of 3D gaming! Here's what the conference had to say:
"Anyhow, the news isn't so much that Super Stardust HD was shown in 3D, but is more of the game being the proof that Sony is indeed gearing up to send out a 3D patch to games that have already been released. You know, so you can enjoy it again, this time in 3D."
Premium PSN: Seen rumors about premium PSN accounts? Well, rumors turned out true. Sony had Presented the idea of premium accounts at CES 2010 this week! Here's what conference had to say:
"But that's not all, Sony has also announced a Premium Video Service that will expand the PSN to other Sony products.
According to Sony, the new video service will allow all network-enabled Bravia televisions, Blu-ray devices, VAIO laptops and Windows based PCs to access the PlayStation Network via the same PSN account they have on their consoles.
The video service will be available next month to networked Bravia televisions and Blu-Ray devices. To facilitate the PSN expansion, the company has also created Sony Network Entertainment, Inc., a newly created studio that will be tasked to produce and mange contents on this service."
More details are to come in whats included in a Premium online account, but I can assure you, you won't be ripped off. From what Ive read, they have added in game chat/messaging and a ton of awesome stuff.
PSP:
Pink PSP: YAY! A psp targeting to female gamers, I know Con wants this SOOOOO BAD!
Well folks this is all for now, I will update as the week progresses and CES continues in Las Vegas.
This is Deathrow reporting!
