We've covered your biggest fears, your worst injuries/painful moments, and your rituals, now it's time for scariest moments.

- In Middle school, I was at a big late-night event and my Mom showed up and grabbed me and made me come with her with this no bullshit mentality so I knew it was serious. I later learned that my sister had been hit by a drunk driver, and we were on the way to the hospital.

My sis was banged up but she recovered, thank god, but her car was totalled and I wanted to fucking kill the asshole that did it. It was so scary not knowing what happened to her.

- When I was in middle school I got dropped off at school and heard about the World Trade Center Attacks. Nobody knew what the hell was going on and all my relatives live in NY and my Uncle was a Manhattan Firefighter. It was freaking scary.

- In elementary school, we got locked down because the next school over, Columbine, had a shooting happening. That was terrifying.

- 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with a liver disease, I thought I was going to die (you cant live without a liver) but I went through a few months of treatment, and I'm good as new!

- Having my wisdom teeth broken apart and pulled out of my head without being put under was some scary shit.

- In middle school me and my lab partners accidentally started a huge fire in our science class and the whole building evacuated. Waiting for punishment was scary. :furious:

So, what are your scariest moments?

Wow, Cpt, plenty of scary moments. Were all of your NY relatives (And your uncle) okay? I almost forgot to breathe when I read that...I'm glad your liver's okay now and that your sister is well also.

Btmn, that sounds so intense, I can't even imagine doing that in my nightmares...I hope everything turned out for the better.

******************

TWO moments I can think off the top of my head are:

1) I was a freshman in high school and I got caught at a sports store STEALING GOLF BALLS AND A GOLF GLOVE ((slap in the face)). I was so shook when I got caught and very speechless...so my mom picked me up and took me home. At the time it was one of my scariest moments ever. But now that I look back at I just laugh at myself and I know I learned from it, despite the anger from my parents.

2) in July of '06, my mother was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. fortunately, it was treated very well and she's completely healed to this day. It was the moment I heard the news that I was so shocked, I couldn't think about anything else, I was out of it, afraid it was more serious than it was, etc. Thankfully, she's doing well now after all this time. PLEASE TELL ALL FEMALES YOU KNOW TO GET CHECKED! I can't stress it enough...

Working the Rigs up in the Canadian far North.

-Let me set the sceen,(winter with 5 feet of snow) imagine hundreds of square mile of nothing but spruce tree's, mountains, and wildlife, (wolf's, cougars, bobcat, lynx, Bears are hibernating).
-The cut lines you drive down are not accessable in the summer months, they are plowed regularly by the oil company in the winter to clear the never ending snow.
- no hotels within hundreds of miles, only rig camps that are hauled in by heavy trucks for ppl to sleep and eat in. NO CELL PHONE SERVICE.
- Anyway my crew and I worked late that night on the rig, I sent the boys home to camp, while i stayed behind to make some minor repairs to a piece of equiptment so that things would run easy for us the following morning.
-Midnight rolls by and im finished my repairs. I jump in my pick-up truck and start making the 20 mile drive on the ice roads to camp. 6 miles from camp i came up on a corner too fast and hit the rhurbarb and got my truck planted.
- I begin to start to walk the six miles back to camp with my flashlight. The first 2 miles go smooth enough, BUT THEN i hear something in the bush following me, i shine my flash light back and see nothing, begin to walk again and hear the crackling of twigs in the bush again. I spin and flash my light again, only to see 7-10 sets of eyes glowing in the light, WOLF's following me.
- Terrified to run i continued to walk slowly the rest of the way to camp making as much noise as i could. They followed me till the last 500 yards then dissappeared into the night. They never came closer than 20 yards to me, but they scared the shit outa me, felt like i was waiting to be torn apart.

True story boys.......Peace

Glad you guys are all ok and your mom blund. Batty should be in one of those too fast too furious movies with his batmobile.

I've been in some pretty scary stuff dealing with electricity and car accidents.

Me and my siblings were rushed out of a friend's house. I was in a car with a drunk driver(secret) The driver was mad and wanted to leave the house we were at. We backed up into a car in the driveway, then sped off onto an open road at high speeds. My life flashed before my eyes and i was blinded with light for some reason. we ran into a open lot that was very muddy which stopped the car. I then had to go to one of my dad's old friends that i've never met in my life and my dad barely knew him for a day. Craziest childhood experience...

I've almost been electricuted by my laptop. Messed up my laptop one day and reach in the back to check on the wiring. I saw a big spark that could've fried me if i hadn't reacted...still using that comp till this day.

My step brother used to always bother me, one day i punched his lights out in anger by mistake and i was so afraid that my parents would woop me bad...thank god no one found out.

It was freezing outside and I had just come from getting my hair cut. We were on the freeway and there was plenty of black ice. We were driving at around 50-60mph and all of a sudden did a 180 degree swerve while traffic was coming at us. Car almost flipped but my dad got the car back onto control and we got on a hill on the side of the freeway scratch free.

I've seen a ghost before. I always have my tv on at night. A white dressed figure that looked at my deceased great grandma came into my room. I woke up and she signaled me to shhhh. I don't know why i didn't move or anything but i know i was awake and drowsy. She then walked to the tv and turned it off, i went to sleep right that moment. The next morning my tv was off and i asked my mom if she had turned it off...she said no and i almost shit my pants.

That that i creeped you guys out, my job is done.

Ares

Ok, this kinda falls under the category of injury, but it was very scary, too. So, back in 5th grade when i was around 10 years old, i went over my neighbors house (we were best friends at the time). We were on the same baseball team, so we decided to practice a lil bit. However, this practice didnt last long. Im sure most of u hav heard of the game "pickle" (no comments plz). Well, my friend decided to use little cement blocks (kinda looked like bricks, but thinner) as the bases. We were doin just fine and his mom suddenly comes out with regular bases and my friend decides to throw 1 of the cement blocks like a frisbee. Guess where that block went? Yea, right into my eye.

So, that night, i went to the hospital. He said there was nothing wrong. We found that highly unlikely, though. We then decided to go for a second opinion. When we did, we found out i had torn my retina and if i didnt get treatment, i wouldve gone blind. So, as this was in the middle of baseball season and the school year, i couldnt play baseball or go to recess and i could only go outside for no more than 30 minutes a day. So, i went into Boston and got laser surgery on my eye. This was very terrifying. At the age of 10, i didnt really understand wat was goin on, but i had a general idea.

Also a dumb decision was to tell my parents that it wasnt a cement block that hit me. I told them it was the baseball that hit me..

But yea, to this day, i still see floaters (lines of black dots swinging back n forth) in my right eye.

Damn Ares that sucks. I got eye surgery at age 3 and again when I was 8, and I still see little dots floating around and one of my eyes kinda does it's own thing lol, but yeah it was scary getting surgery at such a young age (and we didnt have lasers in my day, the doctors would get balls deep into your socket with knives and shit)

Another scary moment:

- This past summer, I was working my Park Manager job, where I have a company truck that I drive around (83' Ford Ranger Pickup... Piece of Shit). Being a company car, I drove it extra hard. Well, one day I was CUH-RUISING at about 70mph when I hit some railroad tracks and the shit hit the fan:

Something must have snapped or been disloged or something, because the brakes locked in the upward position (so I could not apply the brakes!) And I was still going about 70 in this street, so I had to dodge other cars and obstacles and shit until I slowed enough to bring 'er to a halt. It was pretty terrifying not having any control.

Damn I was re-reading all these posts and this is one hell of an interesting/intense thread!

Some more moments:

- Over the summer at my park manager job, I was talking to this guy who had made a reservation, and all of the sudden we hear a LOUD bang and we look across the street to see this guy who was riding a bike about 15 feet up in the ayer, and a car speeding off...

Yeah it was a hit and run, and since it was Memorial Day weekend, I guarantee the asshole was driving drunk. Me and the guy I was talking to were the only ppl around, so we rushed over to help the guy.

His bike was lodged high up in a tree to give you an idea of how fast the driver was going.

He was bleeding and stuff, but not profusely. He wasn't really responsive, he didnt know WTF happened.

The ambulance came and the guy was alright in the end. But that stuff happened so quick and we had to act fast with diverting traffic so they didnt hit him.

I have a few but I doubt I'll be able to remember them all at once. When I was around 3-4 I was at pre-school and there was a toy lemonade stand like those toy kitchens that the kids would play with. It was on the concrete slab up by the building away from the swings and such. Well, me being a daredevil I didn't play "lemonade stand" with it what I would do is get on it and do frontflips off of it to the concrete 3 feet below. Well one day I didn't quite make it 360 degrees around because I hit the concrete on my forehead and when I stood up it kinda hurt and it was really wet. so I went to one of the teachers who looked horrified and they called my parents who came very fast and they threw me in the car and flew to the hospital. I must have fallen asleep or something cuz next thing I knew we were in the hospital and I was laying on a table with a super bright light right above my head shining in my eyes and about 4 doctors leaning over my head with needles and scissors and such. Now if that wasn't scary enough I could feel them sewing my forehead shut with the needles cuz I was awake. So here I was 3 or 4 and I'm laying on my back and can't move with a huge bright light so all I can see are these 4 people leaning over me in blue gowns with a cap and a cover pulled over their face and nose and they are putting needles in my head. I WAS TERRIFIED lol. After the surgery my dad wouldn't let me look at myself in the mirror for weeks cuz he said it would scare me cuz I busted open my forehead when I hit the concrete dead on and it looked terrible. They did such an awesome job stitching it that you can't see the scar except a little tiny bit on the edge which I'm not even sure was part of that escapade.

The other one I can think of off the top of my head was the week of Christmas when I was 4 my Mom, Dad, and I were in the SUV on the way to my Grandmother's house to drop me off so my parents could go to a Christmas party. It was dark and it was raining pretty hard. They were logging off timber on the side of the road in my town back then. We were going along on our way when suddenly a loaded log truck (semi/tractor trailer) pulled right out in front of us and we hit it dead on at around 60mph. I don't think I blacked out though I may have but I do remember looking at my hands and they were very bloody and I looked up and there were logs on the hood and threw the windshield and sunroof and my Mom and Dad were bleeding and were slumped over on their foreheads unconscious. I called their names but they didn't respond. So here I was and I remember it like it was yesterday, logs all over our SUV and threw the windshield and upright threw the sunroof, my hands are bleeding and I can't move because I'm strapped into a car seat. My Mom and Dad are acting like they're dead and won't respond and I start hearing sirens and see red and blue lights threw the rain. Suddenly the door is opened and a firefighter cut off the seatbelt and take me and the car seat out of the truck onto a stretcher in the ambulance, and soon after they brought my Dad in with me on another stretcher but he was still unconscious. My Mom went to the hospital in a separate ambulance. Later, after this was over I heard that they tried to get a rescue helicopter to airlift my Mom out but they couldn't because the conditions were so bad at night with it raining so hard and the wind and all. So we get to the hospital and I'm scared and demand to see my father so they wheel me over to him and his head is all wrapped up and his face looked really swolen, he had tubes coming out of his chest and he couldn't talk to me he just looked at me and made a faint smile. I of course demanded to see my Mom as well but they forbade it because multiple doctors were already working on her because of how bad she was hurt which of course made me very scared. My Mom needed the best doctors so they put her in another ambulance and sped her off to Shands hospital in Gainesville, Florida. (UF's hospital) After that they must have put me out I guess, cuz it was the next day I woke up with a cast on my right arm so I couldn't move it and my Grandmother and family were there and they dressed me and she took me to her house. I was there a few days when my Dad was brought there to me and he had a sling on his right arm and looked pretty bad. I had broken my right arm and just got small cuts on my hands, my Dad had seen the collision coming so he braced himself with his right arm which dislocated his shoulder when we hit, he also had a collapsed lung and several other things, but he had a hole about 2 1/2 inches in diameter in the side of his chest for a few months which they had to make to get in their and fix his lung, it was really weird cuz it was a hole about an inch or so deep in his skin that you could put a few fingers in. I asked him about my Mom but he just tried to smile for me and didn't say much. A few days later they told me she died. She was hurt so bad they couldn't help her, even at Shands Hospital in Gainsville, the training hospital with some of the best doctors around. They wouldn't tell me then but I have slowly through the years gleaned more and more details about her injuries, my Dad finally told me she had severe brain damage from the horrific head trauma and my Grandmother who saw her told me she was severely deformed and was bleeding internally and it was terrible to look at her. She lived for a week before they took her off life support from what I have gleaned. Soon after my Dad and I sat in the front row at our Mother and Wife's funeral. It was terrible, just thinking about it today I'm starting to tear up remembering it. That week of waiting while my Mom was in the hospital was so so scary. Keep in mind this all happened during the week of Christmas and she died 2 days after Christmas day. Some members of my family hate Christmas time to this day because of it. And also to this day, my Dad and I can't stand the sight of a logging truck, because we HATE them so much.
