Imagine if the HTC One ran Windows Phone. Well, according to a new report from Bloomberg, Microsoft has purportedly asked HTC to add Windows Phone to its Android-based devices. Sources state that the head of Microsoft's operating systems unit requested that HTC include Windows Phone as a secondary option on the devices, and allegedly offered to waive most or all license fees associated with using the mobile OS. The talks are said to be in their preliminary stages and no decisions have been made.
What if...

Microsoft is currently working to acquire Nokia's smartphone division—which has played a major role in Windows Phone's growing popularity—but it is said that the company intends to work with other hardware manufacturers as well, including those who are mainly focused on creating Android-based products.
HTC has produced Windows Phone devices in past, although the company reportedly has no plans to continue doing so at this time. Samsung has also made handsets for Microsoft's operating system, but the South Korean manufacturer looks to be doing extremely well for itself in the Android market with the help of its extremely popular Galaxy line.
Both HTC and Microsoft could use some help, though. HTC recently reported a quarterly net*loss of about $101 million, the first ever quarterly loss for the company, and Windows Phone accounted for just 3.7 percent of the smartphone operating system market as of the second quarter of this year.
