While Mario Kart 8 causes Wii U sales to boom 666 percent.
By Luke KarmaliWatch Dogs has enjoyed the biggest launch week of any new franchise in the UK ever, beating the previous record holder L.A. Noire by more than double the sales.
The open-world game also marks an all-time high for Ubisoft - Watch Dogs is now the publisher's biggest ever launch in the UK. Up until now, that plaudit was held by Assassin's Creed III in 2012. Watch Dogs sales were up 17 percent on Connor's adventure, and it's now the 17th biggest game launch in UK history. The only titles ahead of it are from established franchises GTA, FIFA, Call of Duty and Battlefield.
In terms of which platform saw the biggest sales, the PS4 version took the crown, which in turn saw the number of consoles sold rise 94 percent. Unsurprisingly, it entered the chart in first place.
While Mario Kart 8 had to settle for second place, it's unlikely Nintendo is complaining. The incredible racer saw Wii U sales rise 666 percent, with the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle accounting for 82 percent of this.
