Apple By James Plafke Sep. 24, 2014 1:55 pm
iOS 8 released just seven days ago, ushering in the era of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and — best of all — third-party keyboards with swipe-to-type functionality. At a glance, Apple’s new mobile OS isn’t too different from iOS 7, but it does hide a bevy of new additions and changes, from a Health monitoring app to built-in predictive typing. Though iOS 8 only released to the public a week ago, Apple has just dropped iOS 8.0.1, squashing bugs affecting third-party keyboards, HealthKit apps, photos, and more. However, you shouldn’t update just yet — user reports from around the web suggest that iOS 8.0.1 is breaking their phones.
While you might be clamoring for your third-party keyboards to work better or for your iPhone 6′s Reachability mode to become more seamless, reports from early updaters claim that iOS 8.0.1 can prevent your phone’s cell service from working entirely. If that weren’t enough, those reports also claim that the new update can make your Touch ID unresponsive (more than it usually is, at least).

As you can see from the above update list, iOS 8.0.1 doesn’t bring a revolution just one week after iOS 8 attempted to, but it does address various little annoyances that lowered the quality of your smartphone life.
As for the potential cell service and Touch ID devastation, you should probably just wait this one out until the folks at Apple — or the users that first reported the issues — have given the all clear.
