One of the big things that Samsung has been touting with the Galaxy S5 is the insane battery life it is going to get, and they demonstrate how this and many other new features will work.
Much in the same way that they decided to show off their new smart televisions, Samsung has made an app for Android that will walk you through all of the talking points for their new phone. Unlike their television app, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Experience app lets you poke around the interface and pretend to use a lot of the features that are going to be on the new phone.
One feature in particular that Samsung did a great job showing off is the new Ultra Power Save Mode. When a company like Samsung announces that their smartphones will be capable of more than triple the battery life of their previous generation, there’s a real need to see them deliver. Now that we can see the app in action, users can determine how useful that mode will be to decide whether or not this feature is of benefit to them.

The Ultra Power Save Mode seriously limits the capabilities of the phone, reducing connection speed and performance down to just a few apps and limiting the screen to only black and white. In this mode, Samsung claims the battery will last an entire day on what would otherwise be only a few remaining percent. There are a few things that could get in the way, like if you use Google Voice or another third party service for SMS and rely on that for a primary communication resource.
If battery life isn’t something you care about the Samsung app will walk you through the camera functions, the S Health fitness functions, and a few pages about the water resistance and build quality of the phone. Naturally the app is free, and if you’re on the fence about the a Galaxy S5 this is certainly capable of pushing you on to one side or the other.
