Over the course of human civilization, there have been many attempts to better ourselves — a large swath of which involves figuring out a way to get our butts out of bed on time in the morning, or figuring out a way to get our butts to arrive at an event on time. We’re very focused on butts and making them faster. In this regard, the best invention we’ve created so far are alarm clocks that don’t turn off until we complete a task, such as solving a math problem. While that’s a nightmare for some of us, others can do math in their sleep, which is what those clocks literally ask us to do. So, a new alarm clock aims to give our butts a good kick in the morning — not with a boot, but by publicly embarrassing it on social media.
From Foxdog Studios, the Punisher alarm clock isn’t named after Marvel’s anti-hero, but rather named after the consequences you’ll face if you’re late anywhere. First, you set a location at which you need to be, and the time you need to get there. You’ll then enter a tweet of your choosing; obviously, you’d want to make it something you don’t want posted on Twitter in order to create that special motivation. Then, you’ll activate the alarm clock, and unless you don’t deactivate it by making it to the location on time, your tweet will be sent to the world.
If you think you can avoid the embarrassing tweet by, for example, being in a place where your phone doesn’t have internet access, Punisher has you covered. The tweet and alarm are stored on Punisher’s server, so the message will still be displayed to the world even if you try to get sneaky. If some unfortunate event actually keeps you from being able to make your target time even though you truly tried — such as being trapped on the subway — you can prevent the embarrassing tweet from ruining your life by deauthorizing the app on Twitter, though you’ll need internet access for that.
If this kind of reputation-destroying time bomb is for you, give it a whirl over on Google Play.
