Imagine your child’s surprise when you pull out your phone and show them that you caught Old Saint Nick putting presents under the tree or checking his list next to your fireplace? Thanks to the Kringl app, that moment is only a couple of minutes of your time away from being real.
There’s no shortage of fun Christmas apps this year, from Google and Microsoft’s Santa Tracker services to AutoAwesome sparkles and snowfall gif makers on Google+ and so many holiday themed games out there. It’s a cool time of year to be a fan of Chirstmas and mobile devices, and it looks like this trend is only going to continue going up. The team at Zulu Alpha Kilo have taken things one step further with some augmented reality wrapped in Christmas magic to make it look like you caught Santa on video in your house last night.
The Kringl app is incredibly simple — you choose what scene you want, each of which depict Santa doing something different, and point your phone wherever you want him to do his thing. It could be eating cookies, checking his list, rummaging through his bag, or several other scenes. Once you have Santa doing what you want, you have some control over how Santa fits into the scene and how bright the light is around him to help him fit into the room a little better. You set him up however you like and press record. The app grabs 12 seconds of video, and then splices Santa into the recorded video.
When all is said and done, you’ve got a video that you can share showing Santa in your house…
Zulu Alpha Kilo set this app up with a donation button, allowing you to contribute to a charity if you like the app. It’s a free app for both iOS and Android, and remarkably well done for what it does. Kringl is too much fun for it not to be on your phone this holiday season, so be sure to check it out.
