A frustrated Pokémon Trading Card Game fan decided to take matters into their own hands, giving card scalpers a taste of their own medicine by sending them on a chaotic wild goose chase they won’t soon forget. While many fans enjoy the thrill of pulling rare cards from packs, some scalpers prefer to hoard and resell them at inflated prices. Redditor astrawberryandakiwi decided it was time for some playful karma.

In a now-viral Reddit post, the user described how they messaged several scalpers under the guise of selling highly coveted cards, asking them to "meet halfway." Unbeknownst to the scalpers, there were no cards—only a coordinated prank designed to waste their time and stir some chaos.

The plan evolved quickly. The Redditor lured multiple scalpers to the same meeting location, 20 to 30 miles from their starting points. As the chaos unfolded, some collectors were stuck in traffic, with one even canceling lunch plans to secure a nonexistent “big deal.” Hilarity ensued when two scalpers unwittingly met each other at the location.

In one of several updates, astrawberryandakiwi shared, "Edit #4: two scalpers are currently meeting at the same location. Edit #5: they met LOL. One of the scalpers still thinks I’m the guy he met up with and that I confused him for a buyer. I told him I think he’s cute." The fact that the scalpers unknowingly met each other added an extra layer of humor to the prank.

Though some might argue this wasn’t the kindest approach, the community largely found it amusing. One commenter, chickchickpokepoke, suggested, “You should still go and take a photo of the scalpers’ meetup from far away and post it.” However, the original poster revealed they didn’t live in the same state as the scalpers, though they might consider doing so in the future if the opportunity arises.

While sending scalpers on a wild chase may seem mischievous, the post resonated with many who are frustrated by the scalping culture in the Pokémon TCG community. Whether or not astrawberryandakiwi repeats the prank, the story brought plenty of laughs and satisfaction to fans tired of scalpers trying to profit without putting in the work.
