Sony has confirmed what we have suspected for some time; there will be no more DLC for cross-platform brawler PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

“There will not be any new DLC characters or environments released for PS All Stars,” Sony Santa Monica’s community strategist wrote on the PlayStation forums.
“We were proud to work with SuperBot Entertainment and they created a great game, but the characters that have already been released to-date represent the full content for PS All Stars.”
The developer has not ended support for the title entirely, though; a balance patch is currently in the works, and although it’s still in the very early stages, it may release during northern autumn.
Additionally, US pre-order bonus costumes for Dante, Raiden, Heihachi and Big Daddy will be released for free on August 27, as will Zeus and Isaac’s third costumes, but alongside the balance patch.
On the tournament side, Sony Santa Monica will reset leaderboards monthly, and is looking into a fix for title belts; it also has plans for more community events.
Interestingly, the post addressed the topic of leaked development assets, which hinted at plans for unreleased DLC, like a Gravity Rush and Journey crossover stage, in addition to cut characters.
“In the course of any game’s development, there are always elements that never quite get finished or the team decides not to use in the final game. Some of these additional materials from the game’s development phase have been recently released, but unfortunately these are very far from finished assets and were not included in the final game for a number of production and legal reasons,” the community strategist said.
The PS3 and Vita fighter released in November 2012. It was originally developed by Superbot Entertainment, but Sony brought the title in-house in February.
Thanks, Polygon.
