Even though Irrational Games has been shut down and its staff disbanded, the*BioShock*series — namely the first one and the more recent*BioShock Infinite — are still fresh in our brains, all this time after its inception. Recently, we got a look at what the original*BioShock and its famed underwater dystopia of Rapture would look like if it were made in Unreal Engine 4. Now, we’re getting a look at what the game would be like if it were made as an old-school, isometric RPG. Basically, it looks great.
Even though*Infinite’s*campaign DLC — both episodes of*Burial at Sea, take place in a portion of Rapture made within the past year — they were created in Unreal Engine 3, albeit a heavily modified version of the engine. When the assets were shoved into Unreal Engine 4, they looked great — though the area into which everything was placed obviously lost the carefully handcrafted atmosphere of Rapture. Thanks to developers The Brotherhood, we’re taking a trip to the past rather than the cutting-edge this time around, and checking out*BioShock as if it were an isometric RPG.

Aside from generously giving us a bird’s-eye view of our favorite underwater fallen city, The Brotherhood appears to have recreated the locale in order to promote its upcoming game,*Stasis. From the skilled representation of*Rapture, you probably could’ve guessed that*Stasis is an isometric horror game. The art for the game looks great, but the above Rapture scene already made it plainly clear that the developers are skilled at isometric art. The team also made stills of other games transformed into isometric RPGs, such as*BioShock Infinite and*Assassin’s Creed IV, which you can check out here.
If you’re interested in*Stasis, which does boast some impressive visuals, head on over here.
