Nintendo has expanded its Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack catalog by adding three classic Sega Genesis titles, further enhancing the variety of retro games available on the service. The Expansion Pack provides access to games from platforms like the Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64.

As attention turns to the anticipated Switch 2, with fans speculating about its announcement through various leaks and rumors, Nintendo has made waves in Q4 2024 by bolstering its retro game offerings. Recent additions to the service, including Banjo-Tooie, Shadow Man, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, and more, have been well-received, giving players an opportunity to revisit nostalgic titles during the holiday season.

In the latest update for Switch Online, three iconic Sega Genesis games have been added: Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, and Vectorman. MERCS, a 1990 run-and-gun title from Capcom, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, a 1993 sequel to the beloved action game, and Vectorman, a 2D action platformer released in 1995, all join the roster. While Sega has recently removed several classic titles from digital stores, Nintendo is offering a lifeline to Genesis fans with these additions.

To access these 90s Genesis classics, players will need to be subscribed to both Nintendo Switch Online and the Expansion Pack. This subscription unlocks the full library of N64, GBA, and Genesis games. To celebrate Black Friday, Nintendo is running a buy-one-get-one-free promotion for Switch Online memberships, though the deal is region-specific. Fans have praised the inclusion of these Genesis classics, with some taking to Twitter to request more Game Boy titles like Tekken Advance and Metal Gear Solid from 2000.

While millions of Nintendo Switch Online members will lose access to the service in 2026 due to Nintendo's ended partnership with Tencent, affected users in China will have access to redemption codes. In the meantime, the Switch Online catalog continues to introduce retro gems to a new generation of players, many of whom are discovering classics like ToeJam & Earl for the first time.
