A new patch finally seems to fix some of the netcode problems in the game.
DICE has released a new Battlefield 4 patch on the PC, which is set to improve the much-debated, and much-hated “netcode”. As mentioned in their Battlefield 4 CTE testing, increasing the tick rate seemed to help smooth out the gameplay and alleviate many of the so called “netcode” problems.
DICE has now released a new Battlefield 4 patch with exactly those changes added: players now have an option to increase the tick rate in a new setting that is called “High Frequency Bubble”. This increases the responsiveness from other players and enemies that are nearby (but not in the entire game).
The selective “bubble” approach will make the immediate world around the player seem more fluid and responsive, while it won’t cause too much of a strain on game servers with the higher tick rate. You can check out a video of the improvements above.
The PC patch is available for download now, and will be rolled out to consoles later this week. A new server patch has also been released, which gives server operators the option of using the new “High Frequency Bubble” — DICE says that they expect most servers to turn this option on.
You can find the full patch change log here.
