After finally getting the Xbox One to a point where it feels like a complete thought, the Xbox team has announced plans to expand availability of their console this fall by an impressive 26 countries.
The launch of Titanfall for the Xbox One marked more than just the release of a highly anticipated game, it signaled the emergence of the true Xbox One. Through a series of software and firmware updates that ranged from controller accuracy and battery reporting, to a totally revamped communication service and the addition of Twitch streaming, it’s safe to say that the Xbox One that exists now is not the one that was available at launch.
While that’s great for all of the games coming out over the summer, it also means the Xbox One team can focus on delivering performance increases and prepare the console for launch in other countries.
The official Xbox News page updated today with 26 new markets that the console will be available in September. These markets include Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, amd the UAE.
In their announcement, Microsoft added that currently users spend an average of five hours a day on the console. Given the streaming media and TV passthrough features that are available with the machine, it’s not a surprising figure.
With a new batch of markets to offer the console in, there’s likely going to be new services that cater specifically to those countries and their streaming media or TV Guide needs. That hasn’t been confirmed, but Microsoft made it clear there would be a lot more information on this subject in particular over the coming months.
