As sure as the Sun sets in the west, Nintendo will remake past*Pokémon games, slap new words in front of the original titles, and give them a fresh coat of pixelated paint. With last year’s*Pokémon X and*Y, the series finally made its way to the medium of animated critters and 3D (in both character models and limited Nintendo 3DS gimmick). Now, it’s time for Nintendo to dump a bucket of paint on an older*Pokémon generation as is tradition, this time in the form of*Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire — and no, we don’t know why*Omega gets first billing.
These two remade installments will be landing some time in November, just a little over a year after*the October 12 release of*Pokémon X and*Y. We haven’t seen much of the game in action yet, and this teaser first shown in Japan is all we really have so far.
As you can see from the above teaser, nothing is really revealed other than the animations of the game’s cover athletes. If you have the volume turned up, the teaser is set to a soundtrack of awkward rumbling noises that sound more like your headphones are broken than an accompanying soundtrack. It looks as though these remakes will sport the same graphical style of*X and*Y, which is good news for fans.
The original*Ruby and*Sapphire released back in 2003 in North America (and 2002 in Japan) for the Game Boy Advance, kicking off the next-gen of*Pokémon games, much in the same way*X and*Y did for the Nintendo 3DS. The story follows Team Magma and Team Aqua as the villains, using the games’ cover legendary Pokémon to dry up the oceans or flood the world, respectively.
Stay tuned for more info when Nintendo drops it.
