Ubisoft has decided to offer up a new compilation of titles that actually turns out to be incredibly good value. Come February, you’ll be able to pick up a copy of Far Cry Wild Expeditions, which may sound like a brand new game, but is in fact all previous Far Cry games in one neat package.
For what’s expected to be a price of around $50, Ubisoft is including a HD remaster of Far Cry, as well as copies of Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3, and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. PS4 and Xbox One owners won’t get to enjoy this compilation, but PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 gamers will. And you don’t have to wait too long for the pack, either, as a February 14 release has been confirmed.
Now, there is a little confusion over this compilation. Ubisoft has sent out conflicting information regarding its content. For Europe, the Wild Expeditions pack is definitely happening, but for the US a Far Cry Compilation has been announced that does not include the original Far Cry game and is only heading to PS3 on February 11 for $39.99. If that’s true, it’s a real shame and certainly devalues the offering as a “compilation.”
If Wild Expeditions does arrive in your territory, then it’s the perfect opportunity to grab all the Far Cry games for a comparatively low price. I own the first and second game, but have never played the third or Blood Dragon. I purchased Far Cry when it was originally released so would appreciate the HD visuals update.
Unless there’s some insurmountable licensing issue, Ubisoft should really reconsider doing a different game bundle outside Europe. There’s only going to be a lot of complaining if they don’t.
