As the Halloween event for Disney Dreamlight Valley kicks off this year, many longtime players are expressing disappointment over the limited new offerings. Reports indicate that nearly all the items—both paid and free—are recycled from last year's event. Since its launch in 2022, Disney Dreamlight Valley has kept players engaged with regular updates and fresh content from developer Gameloft, but it has also faced its share of challenges.

Earlier this year, anticipation grew among fans as Gameloft outlined its plans for Halloween 2024, with many looking forward to the event's return, which traditionally features a variety of seasonal items. This year, Gameloft announced the introduction of candy buckets in the plaza, allowing players to both consume candy and use it for crafting furniture.

However, that excitement was short-lived. The currently live Halloween event has left many longtime players dissatisfied due to the lack of new offerings. Among the items featured are Mickey's Halloween Candy Bowl, a free Mickey BOO Loungefly backpack that glows in the dark, and a 20% discount on the Tower of Terror. Unfortunately, most of these items, along with others, were already available during last year's Halloween celebration, leading to widespread disappointment among the community.

October has been a busy month for Gameloft, not only with the Halloween announcements but also with an update for Disney Dreamlight Valley on PS4 and PS5 aimed at fixing visual stuttering and lagging gameplay issues on both consoles.

While maintenance and innovation have been central to the game's appeal—such as the recent Jungle Getaway update that introduced two new Disney characters and a new Star Path—this year's Halloween event has faced criticism for its lack of variety and ongoing glitches.

Previously, players reported a birthday cake glitch that hindered their progress in an ongoing event. Although the issue was quickly resolved, it highlights the game's rocky history.

Despite the current dissatisfaction, players typically look forward to the introduction of new characters. The addition of Steamboat Willie was met with great enthusiasm, as fans readily shared their excitement across various online platforms. With a digital showcase planned for next week, players hope to see enticing announcements that will revitalize enthusiasm for the game and help counterbalance the negative sentiment surrounding this year’s Halloween event.
