You bought a broken game, now help DICE for free to to make your purchase worthwhile.

DICE has launched a new “feature” called Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment, which is a different client, Battlelog, and game server setup where BF4 players will help DICE test various aspects of the game before going live to everyone. It’s essentially what beta patches were in the past, only much more in-depth.
Battlefield 4 has been up to its neck in bugs and issues (just look at the latest netcode problems), with unreliable patches that tend to break more than they fix. Hopefully something like a community test environment will improve the quality of updates and improve the game in general.
And yet, it’s hard not to be irked by the whole notion that we should now spend our free time to test a game that was supposed to work from the get go. We’re supposed to play the game and have fun. We didn’t pay $60 (or $110 for some players) to play a beta release and provide feedback to the developer.
The Battlefield 4 Community Test Environment can be downloaded on Origin, and is for Premium players only. It’s a special build of the game, which weighs in at almost 15 GB. It’s only available on the PC.
However, it appears that there are currently no free slots for the test environment.
