Despite the Blizzard team initially only having PS4 dev kits for their next-gen Diablo III release, it looks like the Xbox One is also going to have a journey into the Burning Hells.
For PC players, Diablo III is kind of old news. While entertaining, the game wasn’t particularly long. While we all wait for the next expansion for the game to see whether or not Reaper of Souls is good enough to justify the price tag associated with the update, Blizzard has been hard at work releasing Diablo III for consoles.
The release on Xbox 360 and PS3 were met with mild success, and we knew that there was a PS4 version on the way, but it looks like the Xbox One will be getting a release as well.
While Blizzard has yet to officially announce Xbox One support for Diablo III, the Xbox One version of the app has shown up on several retail websites recently. These sites list the game as “coming soon” and note that the image in place is not an indication of final artwork. While it is unlikely that the artwork will differ greatly from the Xbox 360, PS3, or PS4 versions, there’s still nothing officially available to look at.
Given how similar the PS4 and the Xbox One are from a development and hardware perspective, it’s not a huge leap to assume Blizzard is developing for both consoles. Despite the initial wave of games for Xbox One being visually limited to 720p compared to 1080p on the PS4, games like Diablo III present the opportunity to show that both platforms are capable of delivering the same gaming experience.
