What has 8,294,400 pixels and fits on your computer desk? Dell’s new 24-inch, 4K monitor. It’s the latest addition to the company’s UltraSharp range, and it hasn’t even been officially announced yet.

It has, however, popped up early on Dell’s website in Belize. As you’d expect from an UltraSharp, the UP2414Q is a high-end affair aimed at discerning enthusiasts and professionals. Its pixel density of 184ppi doubles up on Dell’s current-gen 1080p offerings, and it features impressive viewing angles and incredibly accurate color reproduction.

This sleek little number also features a range of connectivity options. There’s an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, and a mini DisplayPort to handle video input. Dell’s also built in a USB 3.0 hub that provides monitor-mounted access to 4 additional ports.

And since this is a monitor that graphics professionals are sure to be interested in, Dell has also integrated a multi-format digital card reader. The UP2414Q is also height-adjustable, and it tilts and pivots like most professional displays do.
There’s no mention of a price on the premature posting. However, with Dell’s current 24-inch UltraSharp PremierColor display going for $499 (or $399 if it’s still on sale), you can bet that the UP2414Q will sell for a few dollars more.

We’ll have to wait patiently for Dell to fill in the blanks, but it’s exciting to know that we’ll soon have some single-monitor 4K options* for our desktop computing setups. Just imagine playing Battlefield 4 like the guys from Thirty IR… without having to sit waaaaaaaay back so a 32-inch 4k TV is comfortable to use.
