Can’t wait to get your hands on a reasonably-priced 4K display? You don’t have long to wait. Dell’s UltraSharp P2815Q is set to launch in just two weeks, and it’s priced to move.
At CES 2014, Dell announced that the P2815Q will go for just $699 when it goes on sale on January 23. That’s an amazing price, considering that Dell’s current-generation 27-inch UltraSharp monitors start at $699, too.
The IPS panels in the U2713HM have a native resolution of 2560 x 1440, so you’re getting more than double the pixels at no extra charge. That’s the kind of deal that makes you think Vince Shlomi is going to tell you that you have to call in the next five minutes because Dell can’t do this all day.
While Dell hasn’t gotten specific, they do state that the*P2815Q is ready for “quick and easy connection to smartphones, tablets, laptops and PCs.” That likely means HDMI and DisplayPort, and probably even DVI and VGA — since they’re still the only way to connect easily to some PCs.
As you’d expect from a high-end, professional-grade display, the 4K P2815Q comes mounted on a height-adjustable stand that can rotate and pivot between landscape and portrait orientation. Dell’s also going to offer accessories to trick it out, including a soundbar and a monitor arm.
OK, so it’s still not as cheap as Seiki’s 39-inch 4K television — which you can snag for just $499 on Amazon… but the Dell UltraSharp P2815Q is bargain-priced compared to other high-res desktop displays. More importantly, it’ll set the bar for upcoming offerings from other companies.
Hopefully more affordable 4K screens will be heading our way soon.
