BioShock Infinite’s return to the underwater dystopia of Rapture was a success, visiting new locations and old character favorites. The original*BioShock looked great when it released back in 2007, and seeing our favorite sunken city updated in an engine created six years later was a treat. If there is any criticism to be levied against episode one, it’s that it was too short — especially when compared to*BioShock 2′s excellent Minerva’s Den DLC campaign. Now,*Burial at Sea*episode two has a release date — March 25 of this year — and is said to increase the playing time to around six hours, correcting the most glaring issue that afflicted episode one.
This time around, the episode is focused on Elizabeth, Booker Dewitt’s charge in*Infinite*and guide in the first episode of*Burial at Sea. Rather than the brute force run-and-gun style of Booker, Elizabeth will be more focused on stealth. Like episode one, the upcoming installment will see the return of some of the series beloved characters. In fact, the story seems to focus on Elizabeth helping Atlas — whose true identity was revealed in the original game — get back into Rapture proper after his banishment.
Considering*Infinite*somewhat tied into the story of the original*BioShock, it’s entirely possible that episode two of*Burial at Sea*is not just a fun revisit of Atlas. According to the above teaser, the episode’s story might convey the canonical cause of Rapture’s fall. One of the fans’ biggest desires is to have a game set in the bustling, functioning city of Rapture before the fall, and judging from the above trailer the player is going to indirectly be the cause of that fall.
Episode two will run $14.99 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, unless you purchased the*BioShock Infinite season pass, which saves you a handful of bucks on both episodes of*Burial at Sea.
