DICE has upgraded the server hardware infrastructure, which should result in smoother gameplay.

As expected, DICE has released a new Battlefield 4 server update, which fixes just two tiny bugs. The much more important addition are brand new servers, which should improve the lag and netcode situation, especially when it comes to the dreaded “rubber-banding”.
A few weeks ago, DICE said that they will be upgrading their server hardware to fix the lag issues, which many found surprising — it took them six months to realize they needed a server update? Either way, the new servers are now live, and hopefully this will have a big, positive effect on the game.
As for the server patch, it only fixed two issues: a bug where players would get stuck in a loading screen if the server had an uneven number of player slots, and a live scoreboard bug fix.
DICE is also working on a new client PC patch that should be released very soon. We don’t know what sort of fixes and tweaks the patch might include, we’ll have to wait and see.
Hopefully the new server hardware updates will be enough to get a noticeable improvement in multiplayer gameplay. It’s been six months since Battlefield 4 was released and the continuous problems have resulted in many players leaving the game for good.
