Since they appear to be taking their sweet time supporting these devices on their own, AllCast creator Koushik Dutta has enabled Twitch streaming into his app so you can watch your favorite streamer on whatever you want.
With no shortage of tournaments and new games showing up every day, Twitch.tv is an incredible one stop shop for gamers who enjoy watching the games they play. Like any other professional sport, it’s exciting to watch people who are perfecting their craft every day, and Twitch offers a fantastic service to enjoy exactly that. It’s also a decent way to kill an hour or two if you’re trying to figure out what your next game purchase should be.
The only problem with Twitch right now is the limited number of places you can watch from, which is the exact same number of places you can broadcast from. This makes sense from a business perspective for Twitch, making sure that every viewer knows that the barrier to entry for their own stream is just a few clicks away, but for those of us who really just want to sit back and watch, the app situation could be better. Fortunately, AllCast has come to our rescue.
As long as you have the Twitch app installed on your Android device, you’ll see an option in AllCast to enable Twitch streaming. The implementation as it stands right now will let you access live streams that are sorted per game, so you can’t go hunting for your favorite streamer unless you know what game they are currently in. You pick a stream that you want to watch, and seconds later that stream shows up on whatever host device you have sent it to.
It works with all of the current AllCast devices, including Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, game consoles, home made DLNA servers, Smart TVs, and even just another Android device that is sitting on the other side of the room. Twitch is unlikely to have a solution quite this expansive any time soon, especially since it’s not exactly fitting with their business model just yet, so if you want to enjoy Twitch somewhere that doesn’t have a console or a PC attached to it AllCast is your best bet.
