Pre-release iPhones have fetched thousands of dollars in the past, but now you can get your hands on one for the bargain basement price of just $180! It’s an absolute steal, as long as you’re not bothered by the fact that it doesn’t actually work.
Chinese sellers on AliExpress are offering up dummy models of the iPhone 6 in both rumored sizes: the slightly bigger 4.7-incher and the phablet-sized 5.5-inch model. They’re nicely done, and likely modeled off the leaked schematic drawings that made the rounds a few months ago.The interior of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 dummy also looks a lot like the CNC-machined casing that popped up just a few weeks ago.
In a brief video shared by Mac Otakara, you can see how the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 might compare to the 4.7 — again, these are both dummy phones whipped up by Chinese manufacturers for sale on sites like AliExpress. We’ve seen a similar comparison before, and the gist is still that the big one is big. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6? Slightly larger than the iPhone 5S.
It’s hard to imagine anyone paying nearly $200 for a non-working mockup of an unreleased iPhone that might not even look anything like what Apple is brewing up. If you think one of these dummies would be a fun way to mess with your geeky friends, the 4.7-inch is a much better buy. You can snag one for about $30. Instead of paying five times as much for the larger model, why not pick up a few 4.7-inchers and start leaving them in bars near Cupertino and watch the ensuing hilarity?
