Week 18 arrives and serves up some very nice two start options.* Some clunkers, too, but that is per usual.

Remember, you need to be vigilant about your pitching options.* Although these matchups are accurate as of date of publication, things have a way of changing, whether due to weather, injury, suspension or managerial decision.* Unless you have to set your lineup at the beginning of the week, keep up to date with regard to your rotation.

These are the pitchers that if I owned them, I would plug in, wind up and forget about them.* Locke has finally earned a spot here, and though we keep waiting for the boom to fall, he just keeps pitching great, and is a worthy top tier SP.* I am glad that Garza is now a member of the Rangers, since that improves his chances to rack up wins.

The top 6 pitchers in this tier are all worthy of two start status.* I try to keep the top tier restricted to those I absolutely consider must start pitchers, no matter the match up.* On the other hand, Turner through Burnett are all pitching well, but I don't consider them automatic starts because of the tendency to occasionally blow up.* Still, right now you should plug them into your rotation and rest easy.* Chen is another SP pitching very well, since his return to the Oriole rotation.* Thus, his position at the top part of the middle tier.* I've said it before, but Kazmir is impressing the heck out of me.* If you can, start him.* Nicasio, Leake and Lohse are all servicable pitchers, but well worth considering for your rotation this week.* Santana may be on the move, according to reports I've seen, and depending on where he goes, his value will go up, just like Garza's did.* Kennedy and Jackson are finally worthy of starting for most owners, although I like Jackson's match ups better this week.* Workman is impressing me, too, and he ends the top sub-tier of this list.* After that, things get dicey.* Wood has skill, but he surely did not impress in his first start.* Beachy also is skilled, as he showed up last season, but is he coming back for a lengthy rehab and I am not sure I trust him yet.* I would not consider dropping him, but I might hold off starting him this week.* Samardzija through Wheeler are all decent options in the right circumstances, but I wouldn't just add them and start them without looking at the opponent and the ballpark.* The bottom 4, Buehrle, Gallardo, Peavy and Griffin can be good SPs, but recent results put them in the basement of this tier.

This tier has expanded this week, and maybe I am just getting tired of trying to find a reason to put SPs into the middle tier.* I cannot recommend any of these pitchers, either because they've stunk up the joint recently, or just because they have proven to me that they are not trustworthy at all.* You can use one or two of these guys if you are desperate, but only then.
