This is the mid season update!

The upcoming update will include weapon balancing for Season 4, so expect a nerf to the Grau 5.56!

Here is the updated roadmap for the rest of Season 4:

Captain Price needs you all this week – especially as the Armistice alliance is all but broken with infighting between Allegiance and Coalition forces threatening to cause chaos across Verdansk – so here is your emergency briefing:

200-Player Warzone

With this update, Verdansk will now be able to hold up to 200 players in Battle Royale Quads. That means 50 Quads of Operators fighting each other and the encroaching circle collapse.

This new player count makes Warzone an even bigger Battle Royale experience, so get ready to drop in alongside 199 other members of this millions-strong community to cause havoc!

Download Instructions

Please note that the Season Four Reloaded update will have a download size of approximately 22-36 GB for owners of the full version of Modern Warfare. Console owners must install a secondary download of approximately 3.5GB, then reboot the game to access Multiplayer, if desired. A reminder, console players can choose also to uninstall/remove other data packs (e.g. Special Operations), if no longer needed for a smaller overall file size. For detailed information on uninstalling/removing other data packs, read this article.

Once the Season Four Reloaded update is fully completed, it should minimally increase the overall digital footprint of the full version of Modern Warfare.

Existing free-to-play Warzone players will have a download size of approximately 22GB-30GB, once finished there will be a reduction to the overall footprint on their machines.

In-Match Contract, Modes, and Spotter Scope

That’s not the only new intel we have on Verdansk:

While travelling and fighting your way through the Warzone, be on the lookout for Supply Run Contracts. Upon activation, you and your squad (if applicable) will be directed to a nearby Buy Station. Reach it within the time limit to get a discount on Buy Station purchases.

Our recommendation? Two feet can only get you to a Buy Station fast enough, so consider alternate modes of transportation.

Ready up with a Juggernaut Suit in the Juggernaut Royale mode. Find one of the airdropped care packages to become the Juggernaut and use the mini-gun to attack enemies and vehicles. Once a Juggernaut is sent to the Gulag, a new Juggernaut care package will drop on the map, so do your best to capture the suit and take on any squad that stands in your way.

There’s a new piece of gear around Verdansk: the Spotter Scope.

Think of this as a high-powered scope without the glint; this re-usable scope allows you to scan the environment around you and mark enemies without being detected. Perfect for scouting ahead, the Spotter Scope is a great tool for Operators who want to plan their next move while keeping a low profile.

Warzone Starter Pack

Just joined the fight? All Warzone players can pick up the Warzone Starter Pack to get a jump-start off the Cargo Plane into Verdansk.

For only $4.99 USD SRP (or regional equivalent), get a major boost to your loadouts, Operator collection, and XP earn rate with this pack that includes the following:

500 COD Points AND…

Legendary Shotgun Blueprint – Amalgam

This Legendary Shotgun Echo Blueprint can punish players who dare to challenge you in CQB scenarios.

Epic Krueger Skin – Alchemist

This skin outfits Krueger for Verdansk’s most hazardous conditions.

Epic Calling Card – Breathing Easy // Epic Emblem – Vulture Culture

Give your profile some flair with these personalization items.

1 Hour Double Battle Pass XP // 1 Hour Double Weapon XP

These two tokens give an hour of double Battle Pass Tier earn rate, and double XP towards weapon levels respectively.

A Powerful Sniper Rifle for your Arsenal

Snipers, meet the Rytec AMR.

This .50 caliber-chambered beast joins the three other weapons in the sniper rifle category and is yours to unlock via in-game challenge. A blueprint variant is also available to get through the Store via the ‘Lost Souls’ bundle.

Whether you need to lock down an objective in Multiplayer, lay waste to AQ in Co-Op, or take that cross-Verdansk shot in Warzone, the Rytec AMR is one of the deadliest semi-automatic anti-material rifles an Operator can get their hands on. Use the included picatinny rail to Gunsmith it out to the situation at hand and get back in the fight as your squad’s reliable sharpshooter.

New Multiplayer Map: Cheshire Park

Those who have the full Modern Warfare experience have a new locale to deploy to: Cheshire Park.

Located in urban London, England, Cheshire Park is a picturesque garden and conservatory where Operators will battle from door to door or through the central flora-filled area.

Take to the townhomes for long sightlines, the stores to capture objectives through intense CQB battles, or take to the side streets to take some shortcuts. If you dare, try to challenge those who may set up shop in second story windows, phone booths, front yards, or scaffolding.

New Multiplayer Mode: Team Defender

Introduced nearly a decade ago, Team Defender returns to Modern Warfare as a fast-paced objective game mode that puts a twist on the traditional Capture the Flag formula.

Instead of both teams defending their respective flags, there is only one flag for a squad member to capture and hold onto. A squad earns a point for every second that one of their members holds onto this flag, which means defending the carrier is a must for victory.

Other than needing the flag to earn points, attackers will want to down the carrier for points, which will lead to games where both squads will frantically attempt to wrest control of the flag until the very last second in this pulse-pounding Multiplayer experience.

More in Store

A fresh shipment of new bundles reached the Store to go along with this update, including a new Operator – Roze – who highlights this new collection of content.

Outside of a new reinforcement for the Allegiance, new bundles to be introduced after this update include the ‘Rogue Operative’ bundle, featuring one of the Allegiance’s resident badasses and a Legendary Assault Rifle Juliet blueprint, and the ‘Golden Idol’ bundle, which decks Zane, and the associated blueprint and more, in gold-trimmed everything.

Microsoft has given up on Twitch rival Mixer and partnered with Facebook Gaming, leaving its exclusive streamers to make new deals.

Microsoft has given up on Twitch rival Mixer and partnered with Facebook Gaming, leaving its exclusive streamers to make new deals. In a month’s time Mixer will no longer exist, as Microsoft admits that it has failed to gain the viewers necessary to compete against Twitch. Instead, Microsoft will partner with Facebook Gaming, as the two tech giants try to take on the Amazon-owned Twitch together. That means that despite paying millions to high-profile streamers such as Ninja and Shroud, in order to have them appear exclusively on Mixer, they will now be free to go wherever they like. Streamers, including Ninja and Shroud, will be offered the chance to move over to Facebook Gaming, and will be automatically granted partner status and access to Facebook’s Level Up programme. Likewise, Mixer viewers will have their Ember balances, channel subscriptions, and Mixer Pro subscriptions turned into Xbox gift card credits. Facebook Gaming is also nowhere near the size of Twitch and arguably has no more chance of beating it than Mixer did, but Microsoft has teamed up with Facebook in order to create the biggest possible audience for its Project xCloud game streaming service. ‘It was about finding a partnership that was the best things for the community and streamers,’ Xbox boss Spencer told The Verge. ‘We think this is it, and it gives us a great place to launch more xCloud content and give gamers the ability to play from there.’ Mixer’s last day will be 22 July, but the technology will be used in other Microsoft services such as Microsoft Teams.

Sources: Facebook offered an insane offer at almost double for the original Mixer contracts of Ninja and Shroud but Loaded/Ninja/Shroud said no and forced Mixer to buy them out. Ninja made ~$30M from Mixer, and Shroud made ~$10M Ninja and Shroud are now free agents

#Xbox Xbox Series X: The Most Powerful and Compatible Next-Gen Console with Thousands of Games at Launch

Gaming leaves an indelible mark on all of us. From the epic stories and universes we experience playing as our favorite heroes, to the heat of intense competition, victory and defeat. Through the shared accomplishments we achieve as a worldwide community, gaming brings us together.

Thousands of developers from across the globe are currently creating the next generation of transformative games, many of which can only be realized through the power and innovation of the Xbox Series X. Led by Halo Infinite, our 15 Xbox Game Studios teams are hard at work creating the biggest and best line up of exclusives in Xbox history. We are incredibly excited to show many of the new games in development for Xbox Series X soon.

Preserving Your Gaming Legacy

As gamers, we also know how important it is to preserve and respect our gaming legacies. Your favorite games and franchises, your progression and achievements, and the friendships and communities you create through gaming should all move with you across generations. Not only that, your favorite gaming accessories and peripherals should also move forward with you as well.

Our goal has always been to empower gamers to play the best versions of games from across four generations of Xbox at the launch of Xbox Series X. These principles were key to us from Day 1 and influenced many of our design decisions as we started on our journey to create our most powerful and compatible console ever.

Compatibility Journey

Our compatibility journey began with the announcement of Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility coming to Xbox One at E3 2015. I clearly remember that first magical experience of jumping into one of my favorite Xbox 360 games, Final Fantasy XIII, and instantly resuming where I had left off years before as if no time had passed at all. I was instantly transported back to that special time and all the great memories and personal connections I have made through gaming. The energy and passion from the community continues to motivate us to this day.

Through a tremendous amount of hard work, technical innovation, and partnership with the industry’s leading creators we were not only able to bring more than 500 Xbox 360 games to Xbox One, we were able to go back even further into the archives and resurrect some of your favorite franchises from the original Xbox. The very same team who created new innovative ways to preserve and enhance your existing catalog of games on Xbox One is the same team pushing the envelope again with Xbox Series X.

Maintaining compatibility presents a massive technical challenge as fundamental system and chip architectures advance across generations. Developers highly optimize their games to the unique capabilities and performance of a console to provide the best experience for their players. To make the Xbox Series X our most compatible console ever required both significant innovation in the design of the custom processor as well as the unique design of the Xbox operating system and hypervisor at the heart of our next generation platform.

With more than 100,000 hours of play testing already completed, thousands of games are already playable on Xbox Series X today, from the biggest blockbusters to cult classics and fan favorites. Many of us in Team Xbox play on the Xbox Series X daily as our primary console and switching between generations is seamless. By the time we launch this holiday, the team will have spent well over 200,000 hours ensuring your game library is ready for you to jump in immediately.

All Games Play Better on Xbox Series X

Not only should gamers be able to play all of these games from the past, but they should play better than ever before. Backwards compatible games run natively on the Xbox Series X hardware, running with the full power of the CPU, GPU and the SSD. No boost mode, no downclocking, the full power of the Xbox Series X for each and every backward compatible game. This means that all titles run at the peak performance that they were originally designed for, many times even higher performance than the games saw on their original launch platform, resulting in higher and more steady framerates and rendering at their maximum resolution and visual quality. Backwards compatible titles also see significant reductions in in-game load times from the massive leap in performance from our custom NVME SSD which powers the Xbox Velocity Architecture. As I play through my personal backlog as part of our internal testing, all of the incredible games from Xbox One and earlier play best on Xbox Series X.

The team was not content to just rely on the increased hardware performance to improve your playing experience. The team developed new platform level capabilities to ensure all of your games continue to get even better. In partnership with the Xbox Advanced Technology Group, Xbox Series X delivers a new, innovative HDR reconstruction technique which enables the platform to automatically add HDR support to games. As this technique is handled by the platform itself, it allows us to enable HDR with zero impact to the game’s performance and we can also apply it to Xbox 360 and original Xbox titles developed almost 20 years ago, well before the existence of HDR.

In addition, the new Quick Resume feature was designed to not only work with new games, but it can also be enabled for backward-compatible titles. Quick Resume enables players to resume exactly where they left off, across multiple titles, ensuring gamers can get right back to the fun in an instant.

All of these advances happen at the platform level and require no additional work from title developers.

Advancing the State of the Art of Game Preservation

In addition to preserving the legacy of our loyal fans who have been with us since the beginning, we enable entirely new generations of gamers to play and enjoy the timeless games from our past while respecting and honoring their creators.

Beginning with Xbox One X, the compatibility team developed brand new innovations that could be applied to a hand curated list of titles to enhance them even further than what was possible when they were first created. Techniques such as the Heutchy method, which enables titles to render with increased resolutions up to 4K, or applying anisotropic filtering to improve the final image quality bring these classic games up to modern standards, better than ever before.

With all of the additional power and advancements of the Xbox Series X, the compatibility team now has a veritable playground of new capabilities to innovate and push the limits of game preservation and enhancement. The compatibility team has invented brand new techniques that enable even more titles to run at higher resolutions and image quality while still respecting the artistic intent and vision of the original creators. We are also creating whole new classes of innovations including the ability to double the frame rate of a select set of titles from 30 fps to 60 fps or 60 fps to 120 fps.

The team also continues to listen to feedback from the community on additional titles you would like to see added to the compatibility program. Resurrecting titles from history often presents a complex mix of technical and licensing challenges, but the team is committed to doing everything we can to continue to preserve our collective gaming legacy.

We can’t wait to share more with you as we get closer to the launch of Xbox Series X this holiday.

“PlayStation hardware sales trending well. Network services revenue increased. PlayStation 5 on track for launch in this holiday season. No major issues in game software development at this point,” reads a presentation to investors.

At this point in time major problems have not arisen in the game software development pipeline for Sony’s own first-party studios or its partners’ studios.”
